So I thought I would do a blog entry for each day Kate and I were in Paris, France. I didn't take my computer with me because there was no need. I met up with one of my best friends in the world and wanted to spend as much time with her in the city of lights as possible!
I arrived to our apartment late Friday evening and was greeted by Kate who'd arrived a couple hours before me. We hugged and laughed and just smiled for being so fortunate to be able to meet up with each other in Paris. Then, our adventures began! We stayed on the eastern end of the Latin Quarter in this cute little apartment on the 5th floor. I'm going to go ahead and promote two websites we used to find places to stay because they're awesome and anyone traveling should use these instead of a hotel!
OK enough of that
So being in the Latin Quarter meant we were surrounded by a variety of ethnic foods mixed with boulangeries and patisseries. It also meant we were a short walk from the Notre Dame and Shakespeare and Co. and a little further walk to Museums such as the D'Orsay and the Lourve.
On Saturday we literally walked the entire city. It was overcast and a little rainy in the morning but nothing that we couldn't handle :) We started our day off at the boulangerie/patisserie around the corner and then walked for a little while until we found a cafe. We drank a couple necessary cappuccinos and did a little people watching. Our cafe was just around the corner from Our lady (Notre Dame) which we visited next. The cathedral had no line for entry and was as beautiful as ever.

As we left the church the sun decided to make a showing and so we walked the river, looked at the book stalls, and put some love locks up on the Pont des Arts. Pretty sure the bookstall guys make most of their money off the locks they sell in the off season...

Our trek continued until the low blood sugar took over. We bought some beautiful macaroon/bonbon type sweet goodness and found a restaurant with an Eiffel tower view. So maybe we had some Italian food for lunch (and pizzas the night before) but it was so amazing! Homemade raviolis, y'all know my pasta and cream sauce weakness! We drank some harika (wonderful) italian şarap (wine) - don't worry plenty of french wine was also consumed in the duration of this trip - and capped our meal with some complimentary lemon cello.
The Eiffel tower was naturally our next site to see and not surprisingly was the only place with a massive entry line. It was easy enough for us to just look, be happy, and take some photos instead of standing in line :) The funny thing about the Eiffel tower is you decide you need to take a photo about every 5 steps you take away from the structure. "That angle was good but this one will be even better!"Needless to say I'll only post a few of these angles ;)
By the time we made it to the Arch de triumph, I'm not going to lie I was beat and I had to pee something fierce. So we took the tunnel and walked to the Arch, sat down, took some photos, then walked down the street to Mcdonalds... don't worry we quickly continued on.
The Grand Palais was the next stop on our massive foot journey. There wasn't an exhibition while we were in town so we couldn't go inside. Luckily both of us had visited the an exhibit there before so we just admired the exterior and the awkward baby reliefs in the architecture.
as we turned the corner to the Pont Alexandre III we experianced the perfect Paris sunset. The Eiffel Town off in the distance with the sun right behind it. Not to mention the sculptures on and ornamentation of this bridge are amazing! We nibbled on some bonbon goodies and got cozy with the large gods of the bridge!
Afterwards we slowly made our way down Rue St. Germain window shopping (and really shopping) Kate pointed out this awesome street artist called the Invader. He does tile artwork and we we're fortunate enough to see his work over the course of our time in Paris! (I'll include a post just featuring his works and their locations :))
We eventually realized we needed a metro and to rest our legs! We got off a stop early to buy some dinner, bread, cheese, and wine...
Our first day was pretty ambitious but it was also pretty amazing!

I love this so much, but you knew I would
